Type Locality and Naming
Along the village Garibak, Chumkartau Mountains. A.I. Minakov in 1963 (460, p.90). Stratotype in the area of the village Garibak.
Synonym: Garibakian Suite, Гарибаксская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Carbonaceous-clayey slates, siltstone (aleurolites) with layers of limestones, calcarenites, marls, sandstones, and siliceous slates. To the east, basalt, trachybasalt, and andesite bodies are noted (Shadchinen, 1970). Thickness 150-500 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lies conformably on the Padask suite
Upper contact
Unconformably overlain by the conglomerates of the Roch Fm (165; 460).
Regional extent
Southwestern part of the Chumkartau Mountains, valley of the Zarafshan River.

In the slates, graptolites of Wenlock - Cyrtograptus murchisoni (Carr.), Monograptus riccortonensis Lapw., M. flexilis Elles, etc., Ludlow and Pridoli Neodiversograptus nilssoni (Lapw.), Lobograptus scanicus (Tullb.), Tamplograptus formosus (Bouč.), Saetograptus leintwardinensis (Hopk.), etc. (Starshinin et al., 1994).
